TESTIMONIALS

Don't take our word for it read our client testimonials

We were sent an example survey when we made the initial enquiry, which gave us a good idea of what would be included.

We met the surveyor at the property, which was great. He advised us of various issues on the day and we got the report quickly two days later. The house survey explained solutions and costs of building work and we had sketch schemes too for extension ideas we discussed.

About Biggleswade

The market town of Biggleswade benefits from great transport links including the mainline train station and its proximity to the A1.   The transport links have ensured Biggleswade is an attractive area for commuters therefore the population has been steadily increasing with developments such as Saxon Gate in the 1990’s and further development of East Biggleswade.

Pubs in Biggleswade

The town has many interesting buildings including its old pubs (some of which we have surveyed) such as The White Hart believed to be one of the oldest buildings in the town.  The Great Fire of Biggleswade was devastating to the town.  It started on 16 June 1785 in The Crown Inn and quickly spread to St Andrew’s Street, Holme Lane and Langford Lane (now Hitchin Street) before moving onto Back Street, the Market Square, Foundry Lane and Bonds Lane.  The damage was extensive destroying over 100 houses and making many homeless.

Biggleswade Famous people

Famous people from Biggleswade include Charles Penrose the jolly singer of the famous song ‘The Laughing Policeman’.  He was born in Biggleswade in 1873.  Harriet Lee of nearby Cambourne, won a Silver medal for Great Britain in the Women's 100m breaststroke at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Biggleswade Town Centre

The town centre has an attractive market square with cafes and restaurants mixing both local and national chains.  The work to the Stratton Street railway bridge caused chaos to businesses in the town as access to the town centre was limited during the period of works.  However, works were much needed as the last major bridge works were in 1952.

Interesting buildings in Biggleswade

Other interesting buildings in Biggleswade include the Bingo Hall on Station Road, which was previously the Regal Cinema, which opened in 1936 but unfortunately closed its doors in 1976.  At one time Biggleswade had the benefit of two cinemas in the town.

Unfortunately Biggleswade has lost some of its more unusual buildings such as Biggleswade Windmill on Osprey Road built in 1859, which stood at 70 feet high and regrettably was demolished in 1967.
